Gostivar, 21 July 2026 (MIA) - Teams of experts from Skopje’s Water Supply public enterprise have been deployed to Gostivar to determine and normalize the water supply in the city following the epidemic caused by the contaminated drinking water, said Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski at a press conference Tuesday.

“Based on the information I have, they are on the ground and determining the current situation in terms of the water quality. They will take samples from several points and then identify the facts about the water system in the Municipality of Gostivar. Once the analyses are completed, tomorrow we will inform the public about the water quality,” Toshkovski said.

The Minister added that according to initial information from some of the experts, the system will need to undergo hyperchlorination. The process should quickly restore the system to a normal state, allowing the water to be used initially for technical purposes and later as drinking water.
