Gashi: Parliament to work hard on passing reform laws on time

Skopje, 25 June 2026 (MIA) – Parliament in coming days will work hard to pass laws related to the reform agenda, Speaker Afrim Gashi said Thursday speaking at a press briefing.
“Regarding the reform agenda, June 30 is the deadline to pass reform agenda legislation. Most of the assembly’s agenda is organized so as to meet the deadline,” Gashi said.
Regarding the session in which Parliament will hold a vote on government reshuffle, it will be scheduled once the motion is sent to the legislative house.
The revised budget has already been sent to Parliament, which is expected to be passed by late July.
Speaker Gashi said that the meeting with his Bulgarian counterpart, Mihaela Dotsova, held at the sidelines of the Sofia meeting of SEECP, took place in a positive atmosphere. He invited Dotsova to pay an official visit to Skopje, which could take place by the end of the year, as he said.
“We discussed mostly cooperation between our two assemblies, ways to increase cooperation in the EU integration process and how to find a way to share experiences from Bulgaria’s path to EU membership,” stated Gashi.
On the criticism of the opposition of the Albanian bloc of the law on equal representation, he said “there is no perfect law”. “Between having no law and passing a law that has been prepared for two years with experts and the public being involved ion the process, which has already been reviewed by the Venice Commission, I believe it is the best way how a legislation should be passed,” the Speaker said.
