Skopje, 23 September 2025 (MIA) - The International Day of Sign Languages is more than symbolism, this day is a reminder for the entire society that inclusion, communication and respect have no barriers when there is will and love for the other, Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi said in his address on the occasion of September 23 -The International Day of Sign Languages, during Tuesday's visit to the State School Center for Education and Rehabilitation "Partenija Zografski".
He pointed out that the Parliament has consistently advocated for the inclusion and respect of persons with disabilities.
"In this regard, since 2023 the Parliament has been organizing sign language courses for its employees and the MPs. This is not just a technical step, but a deeply symbolic act in the attempt to hear those who speak differently, but have just as much to say. In addition, special activities were organized to mark this day, as a sign of the commitment to building an institution that is increasingly inclusive and closer to every citizen," said Gashi.

As Speaker of the Parliament, he added, I have focused my mandate on several essential goals, among the most important of which is building an open, inclusive Parliament, which is a home for every citizen.
"Striving for the support and inclusion of people with disabilities is not only an institutional obligation, but also a personal value that I will continue to pursue with dedication and seriousness. Therefore, it is not by chance that I am here today. It is worth emphasizing that here, at your school, we see the best example of how love, dedication and education can build bridges that overcome any obstacle. You are living proof that the strength of a person is not measured by the words he utters, but by the heart and spirit he invests every day. In this context, I would like to sincerely congratulate all educators, students and every individual who wholeheartedly contributes to this noble mission," said Gashi, pointing out that "a voice is not needed when hearts speak the same language."
