FM Mucunski says Hungary remains one of most vocal supporters of country's European integration

Skopje, 13 June 2025 (MIA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski and his Hungarian counterpart Péter Szijjártó signed Friday in Skopje a strategic cooperation agreement between the two governments and a memorandum of understanding over the implementation of scholarship programme "Stipendium Hungaricum" in period 2026-2028.
FM Mucunski told a joint press conference that the signing of these documents is a proof of the countries' strong partnership.
"Hungary remains one of the most vocal and committed supporters of the region's European perspective, which was also shown during its EU Presidency. We are thankful for this principled and sincere support, especially in the context of our expectations for progress in the Union accession process. In the year when the world observes the 80th anniversary from the victory over fascism and 75 years from the Schuman Declaration - the foundation of the European peace project - we remain firmly committed to our strategic goal of full-fledged EU membership, including a clear and predictable dynamics," said Mucunski.
The FM noted that productive cooperation has been established with the Hungarian ministry, with specific results expected in the coming period, while adding that Hungary is among the top ten trading partners and one of the leading foreign investors.
"As partners and allies within NATO, we continue to build open, sincere and strategically oriented cooperation. I am certain this positive dynamics will be reaffirmed at the coming summit of the Alliance," said Mucunski.
