FM Mucunski holds working meeting with EU ambassador, ambassadors of member states

Skopje, 20 May 2026 (MIA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski held a working meeting Wednesday with the Ambassador of the European Union, Michalis Rokas, and the ambassadors of the EU member states in the country.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, at the meeting Mucunski informed the ambassadors about the current political and reform processes in the country, with special emphasis on the progress in fulfilling obligations related to the opening of negotiations with the European Union. In this context, progress was presented on the drafting of the Action Plan for respecting the rights of communities, as well as ongoing activities within the Reform Agenda and other obligations stemming from the European integration process.  

“The meeting particularly stressed that the country’s continuous alignment with the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy, as well as its support for the Union, are a clear indicator of the strategic commitment to full-fledged EU membership,” the Ministry said. 

At the meeting, opinions were exchanged on the reform priorities and the country’s EU integration process, with emphasis on the need for its acceleration.

In this context, the meeting highlighted the importance of enhanced regional cooperation, the use of the concept of gradual integration, exchange of experiences, and continuous support from EU member states.

The meeting is part of the regular dialogue with representatives of the EU member states, aimed at open exchange of views and coordination on issues related to the country’s European integration.
