Skopje, 24 August 2026 (MIA) – We are ready for elections. If elections took place tomorrow, we’d be ready, as well as the team and its program and the Master Plan for Macedonia, due to be unveiled in September, SDSM leader Venko Filipche said Monday.

“Six items – well-defined for the citizens to know what they are going to vote for in the elections, whenever they take place. All the most important aspects regarding the country’s future, strengthening of the system, the well-being of the citizens in this welfare state, which has been neglected for a while, will be clearly laid out. We’re ready for elections whenever they take place, but we won’t be an alibi. Hristijan Mickoski has a two-third majority in Parliament, absolute power. He can schedule elections whenever he wants,” Filipche told a news conference. 

People, he said, in elections, when they are held, will have to choose between this corrupted and criminal government and our good policies.

Speaking to reporters at the news conference, Filipche also said voters will have to choose between an anti-European government and those that want the country integrated into Europe. 

“Between an anti-European government, which has us isolated under the influence of the Serbian world – Europe has also said that we are under the influence of the Serbian world – and us, who want a free and developed Macedonia, integrated into EU,” the opposition leader said. 

Filipche criticized the government saying it failed “in economy, education, agriculture, social policy.”

The opposition, according to him, could unite only over pro-European policies.
