FIFA and Adidas present 2026 World Cup ball

Berlin, 3 October 2025 (dpa/MIA) - Football governing body FIFA and sports goods manufacturer Adidas presented Trionda, the official ball for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

For the first time, the World Cup will be played in three countries - hence the name Trionda, which means "three waves" in Spanish.

The ball's design features a red, green and blue colour scheme that pays homage to the three host countries.

"I can't wait to see this beautiful ball hitting the back of the net," FIFA president Gianni Infantino said at the presentation of the new ball.

According to FIFA, the ball boasts several important technical innovations.

Its extra-deep seams ensure a surface that distributes air resistance evenly and guarantees optimal flight stability.

Additionally, embossed icons that are only visible up-close elevate grip when striking or dribbling the ball in wet or humid conditions.

The ball also features a 500Hz motion sensor chip sends precise data to the video assistant referee system in real time, "enhancing match officials' decision-making," FIFA said.

The World Cup starts on June 11, 2026 and the final is on July 19, 2026. The tournament will be the first to include 48 teams, expanded from 32.
