Families of Kochani fire victims demand answers on indictment process involving police officers at protest march

Kochani, 27 July 2025 (MIA) - Families of the victims in the tragic fire at the “Pulse” nightclub fire gathered Saturday at the March of the Angels outside the Kochani police station, demanding answers from the Public Prosecutor’s Office about the ongoing investigation and indictment process involving over 20 police officers from Kochani and Shtip police departments.

“We would like to know the status of the investigation at the Public Prosecutor’s Office. Good for them, if that’s their honor, because all they do is drag things out,” says a grieving mother.

At Saturday’s March of the Angels, the main message was, “Hear the voice of those who can no longer speak.” The parents and families of the children who died, participating in the protest march, are outraged by the overwhelmingly low turnout at their event today.

Outraged, they “expressed thanks” to the citizens and families who have lost children but did not attend the march on Saturday, which started at 6:05 pm from the Park of the Revolution and ended in front of the Court and Prosecutor’s Office in Kochani.

A mother standing outside the Kochani municipality emphasized that today is the anniversary of the devastating Skopje earthquake, which took numerous lives and caused significant material damage. She pointed out that the March of the Angels honors the victims of the 1963 earthquake and also remembers those who contributed to the city’s reconstruction.
