Skopje, 27 November 2025 (MIA) - Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources, Sanja Bozhinovska, held a working meeting with representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), reaffirming strong focus on promoting the energy infrastructure and accelerating the reform processes in the country.
Talks focused on several strategic projects scheduled for next year, including a project on 300 MWh battery energy storage system, the Energy Ministry said in a press release.
"The EBRD remains one of our most important partners in the energy sector. At the meeting, we agreed on finalizing several strategic projects important for 2026, including the ESM 300 MWh battery energy storage system project. This project is key to the stability and flexibility of the energy system," Minister Bozhinovska said.

Talks also tackled next steps in terms of introducing the ESCO (Energy Service Company) model in the country. Participants in the meeting looked into possible areas for pilot projects and the model of institutional cooperation that will ensure smooth implementation.
The ESCO model is a business and financial model where a company invests in energy saving infrastructure.
"The ESCO model is a new opportunity for citizens, institutions and the entire system – a model that delivers real results. Our goal is to create a clear framework, predictable procedures and readiness for its gradual introduction," the Minister pointed out.
The Energy Ministry and the EBRD agreed to continue joint technical preparation in the coming period, with a clear focus on ensuring conditions for swift and successful implementation of projects that will directly strengthen the country's energy security.
