Eleventh anniversary of deadly Kumanovo shootout

Kumanovo, 9 May 2026 (MIA) - Several delegations laid fresh flowers on Saturday at a memorial in Kumanovo commemorating eight members of the country’s security forces who were killed in a shootout between police forces and a terrorist armed group in the Kumanovo settlement of Divo Naselje on May 9 and 10, 2015.

During the 28-hour clashes, eight members of the security forces were killed, including Ljubisha Arangjelovikj, Boban Ivanovikj, Goran Ilijevski, Zharko Kuzmanovski, Isamedin Osmani, Sasho Samojlovski, Nenad Serafimovski and Goran Stojmenovikj. They were posthumously awarded with medals for bravery. An additional 37 members of the security forces were injured in the shootouts

Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski, representatives of the Interior Ministry and the Kumanovo Police Department, families of the killed, as well as representatives of the Army, the Customs Administration, police unions, civil associations, the Municipality and Council of Kumanovo, and political parties paid their respects by laying fresh flowers at the memorial on Saturday.
