Skopje, 8 October 2025 (MIA) - Political parties, coalitions and independent candidates continue Wednesday their campaigns across the country for the October 19 local elections.

The VMRO-DPMNE-led coalition will promote its candidates in Sopishte, Shuto Orizari, Butel and Karposh, SDSM will hold rallies in Dolneni, Krivogashtani and Prilep, while Levica is set to meet with citizens in Aerodrom and Centar.

VMRO-DPMNE's Skopje mayor candidate Orce Gjorgjievski will hold a press conference in Shuto Orizari, as will DUI vice-president Arber Ademi, Vrapchishte and Tearce mayor candidates, Isen Shabani and Nazim Taipi respectively.

The campaign ends on October 17, followed by a 24-hour silence ahead of Election Day. The mayoral runoff is slated for November 2.

Voting will take place in 3,480 polling stations across 80 municipalities and the City of Skopje, with 309 mayor candidates and 576 lists of candidates for council members are vying for a municipal seat. Twenty-two parties, 19 coalitions and 119 independent candidates are taking part in the elections.
