New York, 5 August 2025 (dpa/MIA) - Novak Djokovic has opted not to play the Cincinnati Masters after he already failed to make an appearance in Toronto, organizers confirmed on Monday following a report by The Athletic.
This means Djokovic will have not played a professional match in more than a month when he starts another bid for a 25th Grand Slam title at the US Open later in August.
The 38-year-old Serbian last played at Wimbledon on July 11 where he was defeated by eventual champion Jannik Sinner in the semifinals.
Italy's Sinner, 23 and current world number 1, and Spain's Carlos Alcaraz, 22, are set to play in the Cincinnati Masters 1,000 after they also skipped Toronto, with main draw play due to begin on August 7.
