Dimitrieska-Kochoska meets with Turkish Treasury and Finance Minister Şimşek

Skopje, 6 May 2025 (MIA) – Close cooperation between the two ministries in the areas of tax policy and combating financial crime was agreed upon during the meeting between Finance Minister Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska and Türkiye’s Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek.

The meeting was also attended by the Director of the Public Revenue Office, Elena Petrova and the Director of the Financial Police Office, Slobodan Ivanovski, the Ministry of Finance said in a press release.

The tax authorities, as agreed at the meeting in Türkiye’s Ministry of Finance, will cooperate through direct exchange of tax risk information, joint audits, and other activities to monitor related taxpayers whose actions may affect tax payments in both countries.

Dimitrieska-Kochoska said that the Public Revenue Office plays a key role in collecting budget revenue and that all activities and measures undertaken to improve the efficiency of tax revenue collection, as well as application of international best practices, are of great importance.

According to the Ministry of Finance, it was agreed that future cooperation between the Financial Police Office and the Department for Financial Crime Investigations should focus on exchanging knowledge and best practices. The importance of timely and efficient information exchange and building institutional capacity through shared expertise was also underscored.

Both ministers shared perspectives on global developments and the measures being taken to address the challenges.

Finance Minister Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska met with Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat on Monday as part of her visit to Türkiye, and will attend the 28th Eurasian Economic Summit on Wednesday.

Accompanying Minister Dimitrieska-Kochoska are state secretary at the Ministry of Finance, Andrijana Matlioska, Katerina Antovska, chief of cabinet and special adviser at the Ministry of Finance and the heads of the Public Revenue Office, Customs Administration, and Financial Police - Elena Petrova, Boban Nikolovski, and Slobodan Ivanovski, respectively.
