Dimitrieska-Kochoska – Kamenický: Slovakia to share experience with Macedonia in implementing reforms

Bratislava, 7 May 2026 (MIA) – Slovakia and Macedonia have strong potential to strengthen economic cooperation, while Slovakia remains a strong supporter of the country’s European integration process, implementation of key reforms and sharing its own experience. This was reaffirmed during the tête-a-tête meeting between Finance Minister Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska and her counterpart and host, Slovak Finance Minister Ladislav Kamenický.

According to the Ministry of Finance, at the meeting it was highlighted that Slovakia is interested in transferring know-how to Macedonia in areas where it considers itself best prepared and which are of great importance for the country in meeting the necessary EU criteria. It was underscored that Slovakia is ready to share expertise in the field of public finances, the fight against tax evasion as well as public investments.

Also strong support was reiterated for the implementation of the National Development Strategy, a key document directing the country’s future development policies.

Dimitrieska-Kochoska underlined that both the Government and the Ministry of Finance remain committed to maintaining macroeconomic stability and sound public finances, implementing gradual fiscal consolidation, and achieving stronger economic growth, including through the realization of public investments.

As Dimitrieska-Kochoska noted, these reforms and steps are a priority both within the Government’s programmes and in the measures and policies discussed during yesterday’s meetings in Brussels.

They agreed that the economic cooperation between the two countries should be strengthened through deepening business relations, enhancing the exchange of information and implementing joint projects.

Minister Dimitrieska-Kochoska is paying a two-day visit to the Republic of Slovakia at the invitation of Minister Kamenický. The visit includes meetings between the delegations of both countries, as well as talks involving the state secretaries of the finance ministries. A joint press conference by Dimitrieska-Kochoska and Kamenický is also planned.
