CMC receives over 1,000 calls after Skopje storm, fallen trees, roofs, damaged vehicles
Skopje, 21 July 2026 (MIA) - The Crisis Management Center (CMC) has received over 1,000 calls at the 112 emergency number after the thunderstorm that hit Skopje on Tuesday.
Reports include fallen roofs from buildings and houses that damaged parked vehicles, and fallen trees that damaged electric cables.
"Competent services are proceeding on all reported events and teams are working as we speak," said CMC director Muhamed Ali.
Earlier, Skopje Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski says the City of Skopje Crisis HQ, alongside all competent services and public enterprises, is fully mobilized and prepared for a swift and timely intervention.
"All capacities are put at disposal, for the purpose of protecting the citizens and preventing more damage," Mayor Gjorgjievski wrote in a Facebook post.
He adds that the City of Skopje is in continued coordination with the Crisis Management Center, the Ministry of Interior, EVN power company, the fire brigade and other institutions.
