Zagreb, 9 June 2025 (Hina/MIA) -- The investigation into Sunday’s aviation incident at Zagreb's Franjo Tuđman International Airport, which led to a temporary closure of the airport, is still ongoing, the Air, Maritime and Rail Accident Investigation Agency confirmed Monday.
The agency's director, Alana Vukić, said the Ministry of the Interior had notified them of a serious incident involving a Cessna 525 aircraft.
"There was damage to the aircraft's landing gear. Investigators are on site and an inspection is underway," Vukić said.
She added that the findings will be published on the agency’s website. Although no one was injured in the incident, she confirmed that material damage had occurred. Vukić declined to comment on why the airport lacks equipment for removing damaged aircraft from the runway.
As previously reported by Zagreb Airport, at 15:21 on Sunday, a private aircraft operated by Air Panonia, a Cessna 525 (registration 9A-JJIM), skidded off the runway and onto the grass verge during landing.
Franjo Tuđman Airport was temporarily closed in accordance with emergency protocols. According to Air Panonia, there were no passengers on board at the time of the incident.
The incident has raised questions about runway safety and emergency preparedness, though airport authorities maintain that all standard procedures were followed.
