Delchevo, 16 October 2025 (MIA) — The Municipality of Delchevo has launched a project to restore the Bregalnica River flow between the city church to the public pool, MIA's Delchevo correspondent reports citing local authorities.

According to Delchevo Mayor Goran Trajkovski, work is being done on cleaning the water, deepening the river channel and stabilizing the riverbed. Also under way is streambank restoration and riverside landscaping, he said.

The river restoration project aims to protect the central part of Delchevo from potential floods.

It also aims to create a safe space for residents to enjoy, Trajkovski said, adding that "Delchevo will get a modern, urban and well-organized riverwalk." 

"With this project, we continue investing in capital projects that change the city's appearance and improve the quality of life of all citizens," the mayor said.

The Bregalnica River restoration project is one of Delchevo's biggest infrastructure projects in recent years. mr/
