Bozhinovska: Macedonia positions itself as regional energy player

Skopje, 22 April 2026 (MIA) - Energy in the present context is an issue of stability, security and geopolitics. Macedonia has a clear ambition to position itself as a regional energy hub through interconnectivity, diversification and strong investment cycle in renewables. Our message is clear - we are a partner that offers predictability, stability and concrete opportunities for investments, said Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources Sanja Bozhinovski at a meeting with Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker, as part of the Government delegation visiting Vienna on Wednesday.

Discussions tackled economy, energy security and regional stability, with a focus on the support to Macedonia's European integration and the importance of strengthening energy connectivity, the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources said in a press release. 

The meeting that also included Austrian cabinet ministers opened topics related to green transition, sustainable policies and new energy models.

The Macedonian delegation also met with representatives of leading Austrian companies, discussing concrete investment opportunities, technology transfer and enhancement of economic cooperation.

The meetings sent a clear message that bilateral economic cooperation has a big potential for growth, with specific interest in new investments and long-term partnerships, reads the press release.
