Skopje, 28 April 2026 (MIA) - Minister of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources Sanja Bozhinovska held a series of meetings Tuesday with high representatives of the United Nations, international institutions, and experts from the energy sector on the sidelines of the UNECE Resource Management Week 2026 in Geneva, Switzerland. The meetings focused on strengthening cooperation in energy transition processes, sustainable resource management, and regional integration.

In Geneva, Bozhinovska also met with Dmitry Mariyasin, Deputy Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Europe, discussing the enhancement of cooperation within UNECE, accelerating green transition processes, advancing regulatory frameworks, and supporting investments in sustainable energy projects. The meeting highlighted the importance of regional connectivity, integration within energy markets, and the need for a shared approach to tackling the challenges of the global energy transformation. 

The Minister stressed North Macedonia remains fully committed to playing an active role in international processes, promoting sustainable management of resources, and building stable partnerships with the United Nations and other international stakeholders.

At UNECE Resource Management Week, Bozhinovska also participated in the “Social Engines of Sustainable Resource Management: Gender Equality, Intergenerational Justice, and why Extractive Legacies Matter“ panel discussion alongside experts such as Cristina Marras, Co-Chair of EGRM Women in Resource Management Working Group, Edoardo Ghirelli, founder of Green Mining Italia and expert for sustainable and inclusive mining, as well as moderator Dario Liguti, Director of Sustainable Energy at UNECE. 

The panel discussed key topics related to the sustainable management of natural resources, with speakers underscoring that the energy transition must be inclusive, just, and focused on people.
