Skopje, 27 May 2025 (MIA) - We will look at all options and choose the one that is best for the citizens. We would like it to be our own project, said Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources Sanja Bozhinovska on Tuesday regarding the construction of the Chebren and Galishte hydropower plants.

Minister Bozhinovska said the financial framework is being mulled, noting that the project would require 7-8 years for completion.

"We had a group of experts working on this for several months and we have set a framework. We are now discussing the cost, which is about EUR 1.2-1.3 billion. Once we know the exact cost, we will see what are the best conditions for the start of construction works. We would like it to be our own project. We will look at all options and choose the one that is best for the citizens," Bozhinovska told reporters.

On co-generation plants, she said there are several companies that have shown interest in building two such facilities.

"This is a serious investment worth about EUR 1 billion. We'll continue our discussions and I believe more information will be available soon. We are in talks with several companies," noted Bozhinovska.
