Skopje, 19 May 2023 (MIA) - We have a solid foundation to reach a systematic and sustainable solution that applies to everyone in the public sector. It is a big reform that cannot be solved ad hoc, but systematically through dialogue with the unions as partners in this process. The Government provides support for solving this process, stresses Finance Minister Fatmir Besimi regarding the public sector salary system.
"This solution is key to overcoming the situation that creates partial solutions that inspire dissatisfaction. We are trying to overcome that, thorough dialogue with the Economic-Social Council where we have to reach the most ideal solution. We have a solid basis to reach a systemic and sustainable solution, a solution that will apply to everyone in the public sector, including those in the Ministry of Finance and other institutions where there are differences," Minister Besimi to MRT.
The system that is accepted, he added, will be implemented in the budget.
"It will be a system that will be applied by force of law, it will not need negotiations, nor will it be used for political points. It is a question that will be solved similarly as the one regarding minimum wage, for which we established a system, and the question stopped being asked. Minimum wage by force of law was increased in May and it will continue to do so in the future," says Besimi and adds that in terms of talks with unions, they are close to determining the methodology, after holding their last Economic-Social Council meeting. ssh/ik/
