Around 30 Gaza-bound ships continue after Israel intercepts flotilla

Gaza, 2 October 2025 (dpa/MIA) - Following an Israeli naval operation against a flotilla of ships carrying activists and humanitarian supplies bound for the Gaza Strip, activists say multiple vessels are still heading towards the sealed-off territory.
The Global Sumud Flotilla said 13 ships had been intercepted in the Mediterranean, while around 30 continued their journey. "We continue sailing through the Mediterranean to break the siege on Gaza," a spokesman said early Thursday in a video posted on Instagram.
Earlier, the Israeli navy stopped several boats and transferred their passengers to an Israeli port. Among the hundreds of crew members was Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg. The flotilla's participants said they intended to deliver aid directly to Gaza's civilian population.
Israeli authorities offered to allow the aid to be transferred via ports outside Gaza, but the activists rejected the proposal. The Israeli Foreign Ministry accused the flotilla of seeking provocation rather than humanitarian relief.
