Skopje, 15 September 2025 (MIA) - The fire in Trubarevo has been fully extinguished and the entire affected area has been covered with sand and soil, said the head of the Protection and Rescue Directorate, Stojanche Angelov, on Monday.

Angelov said smoke could be seen in several spots at the warehouse for waste recycling this morning, but immediate action was taken using special firefighting foam and by covering the area with sand and soil.

Several firefighting teams remain on standby on the ground, ready to intervene if the need arises. 

The PRD head said the situation at the Drisla landfill has also “drastically improved”.

“A small part remains to be covered. I expect that during the afternoon hours, the area that has been smoking these past few days will be completely buried. In this way, both fires will be fully extinguished,” the head of the PRD said, expressing his gratitude to the Skopje firefighters and everyone else engaged in the fight against the fires.
