Air transport agreement signed with Great Britain, conditions for new flights and more tourists created, says Nikoloski

Skopje, 23 October 2025 (MIA) – Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski and Keir Mather, Minister for Aviation, Maritime and Decarbonisation, signed in London an agreement on regular air transport between Macedonia and Great Britain.
The agreement paves the way for the two countries to establish direct flights and as a result, to increase the number of tourists from Great Britain, said the Transport Ministry on Thursday.
“The agreement, signed upon an initiative by Great Britain, represents a new legal framework that regulates relations regarding regular air transport between the two countries,” said the press release.

The agreement, said the two ministers, allow airlines to have more freedom and flexibility, more efficiency as well new services, while passengers are being offered better connection, new destinations and competitive prices.
Macedonia, Deputy PM Nikoloski stated after signing the document, has been recording a significant rise in air traffic in the past year, making it a serious competition in the region, which is due to implementing the government’s policies aimed at the development of civil aviation. Domestic airports offer a huge potential to handle new airlines and passengers, he added.
The agreement also regulates intermodal freight transport all the while offering a high level of protection and safety of airlines and passengers according to ICAO standards, said the Transport Ministry.
