Skopje, 24 October 2025 (MIA) - It is not true that DUI leader Ali Ahmeti will withdraw from political life after the local elections, said party deputy president Arber Ademi.

“It is not true that President Ali Ahmeti will step down from DUI or from politics, Ademi told Sloboden Pechat daily, responding to reports by the Albanian-language media Fol claiming that Ahmeti had been seriously considering withdrawing from active politics after the elections.

The media, quoting DUI sources, claim that Ahmeti has already discussed this decision with some of his closest associates, as well as with political partners from Albania and Kosovo.

The final decision is expected to be announced after the conclusion of the second round of local elections, so as not to influence the outcome for the party’s candidates, Fol reports.
