Adem Chuchulj unanimously proposed to be the next anticorruption commission head, plenary session due to be held in December

Skopje, 21 November 2025 (MIA) – Adem Chuchulj, a lawyer who has passed the bar, will be proposed by the Commission on Election and Appointment Issues to Parliament to be elected as new president of the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption (SCPC). The committee tasked with selecting candidates for anticorruption commission head, ranked Chuchulj first in the list with 96.5 points. Chuchulj is the incumbent secretary general of the SCPC, who has worked there for 19 years.

The Commission on Election and Appointment Issues unanimously decided to propose Chuchulj to Parliament to be president of the anticorruption commission. According to information from the assembly, the plenary session in which lawmakers will vote for the proposed decision will be held in early December.

According to the committee selecting the candidates, Chuchulj demonstrated a notable experience in preventing corruption and conflict of interests as well as a clear vision and a concrete plan for the work and development of the SCPC.

The call for candidates vying for head of the anticorruption commission was issued this past summer. It was temporarily halted due to the local elections.

Out of 13 candidates who applied for the post, 10 were selected. Interviews with the candidates have been taking place since Tuesday.

The anticorruption commission will get a new head, who will replace Tatjana Dimitrovska after resigning because she is a defendant in the so-called Additive case for leaking a state secret and committing computer forgery. According to the indictment, she leaked information to a person indicted in the Additive case involving a case opened by the anticorruption commission against him. She also is charged with falsifying a security clearance certificate because someone else passed the electronic test in her stead.
