Shtip, 19 September 2025 (MIA) — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski officially opened the 17th Shtip Pastrmajliad meat pie festival by cutting a giant pastrmajlija meat pie in Shtip, accompanied by lawmakers Nikola Micevski and Dushko Ivanov, MIA's Shtip correspondent reports.

Nikoloski said events like the Pastrmajliad were good for business as they attracted visitors who would spend a few million euros in the city.

"The mayor is doing a great job. I would like to congratulate him on his work so far and I am convinced he will achieve even greater success," he said, inviting locals and visitors to enjoy the meat pie festival.

Nikoloski highlighted that the government would continue supporting Shtip in developing local transport, sewage and water supply infrastructure. He also mentioned projects boosting the tourist potential of the Otinja dam and Kezhovica spa.

"We have great plans for Shtip, some of which are being realized and some are in the process of realization," he said.

"It is always my pleasure to visit here and work with the lawmakers and the mayor on realizing projects," he pointed out.

Shtip Mayor Ivan Jordanov said Shtip would play host to numerous local and international visitors over the next two days.

"What I would like to stress is that Shtip will have an influx of funds that will support the local economy," Jordanov said, adding that "this is the point of holding the Pastrmajliad."

The Shtip mayor said the local government's cooperation with the central government and the Ministry of Transport was significant. He also thanked the deputy PM and transport minister for spending the next few days in Shtip and attending several events organized to help develop the city. mr/
