Budapest, 27 March 2020 (dpa/MIA) – Hungary will impose wide-ranging restrictions on movement in a bid to slow the spread of coronavirus, Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on Friday.
Starting on Saturday morning, Hungarians will be allowed to leave their homes only to go to work, shop for food or medication, or for other essential activities, Orban told state radio.
Outside, people must respect social distancing, according to a decree published in the official gazette.
The restrictions are initially to stay in place for a period of two weeks, until April 11.
By Friday, there were 300 confirmed cases of infection in Hungary, with 10 deaths.
