Skopje, 6 September 2020 (MIA) – North Macedonia’s Ministry of Health and Minister Venko Filipche received at formal academy in Skopje on Saturday evening humanitarian awards from the Mother Teresa civic association.
The awards ceremony marked the end of traditional event “Days of St. Mother Teresa” that took place Aug. 26 – Sept. 5.
Awards were also handed out at Saturday’s formal ceremony to the heads of Skopje-based Clinic for Infectious Diseases, Skopje City General Hospital ‘8 September’ and Skopje’s Children’s Clinic.
The 2020 edition of the event, marking Mother Teresa’s 110th birth anniversary, was dedicated to institutions and healthcare workers on the front lines in the fight against COVID-19.
“Health workers demonstrated selflessness amid the coronavirus pandemic, guided by principles established by Mother Teresa. We’ll continue to treat patients as best we can,” the Health Ministry said in a press release.
The “St. Mother Teresa” award was established in 1999 and is presented every year on September 5, the anniversary of Mother Teresa’s death.
