Prilep, 28 November 2020 (MIA) – The current measures are producing results and there is no need for further restrictions. This goes for Prilep and the entire country, said Health Minister Venko Filipche after a meeting with Prilep Mayor Ilija Jovanovski on Saturday.
The Prilep Crisis HQ concluded during the week that further protective measures should be imposed in the city due to the high number of COVID-19 infections.
“Obviously these measures produce results. The closure of bars and restaurants at 9 pm and ban for groups during the entire day are gradually relaxing the situation. We agreed there is no need for further restrictions that would have no significant added effect compared to the measures already in place. This combination is used all over Europe and is giving results. In this sense, and after yesterday’s meeting with the Commission for Infectious Diseases, imposing further measures is not an issue for Prilep and the entire country,” said Filipche.
On the epidemiological situation in Prilep, the city is among those with a mild rise in new infections but within the average regarding the number of infections in recent weeks.
“However, the virus is unpredictable and we must exercise caution. We will see how the situation develops in the coming weeks,” added Filipche.
He said the situation in the Prilep Hospital is well-managed, including the five COVID units, while saluting the family doctors for their willingness to volunteer in the hospital.
