Skopje, 6 July 2020 (MIA) – Autumn is an absolutely high-risk period for all countries. We must be aware that restrictive measures could be enforced if we do not observe the measures and the number of patients increases, said Health Minister Venko Filipche on Monday.
“I personally believe that the autumn months will be a big risk, with the opening of kindergartens and schools being an additional threat. That is why we are preparing with more beds beyond the current hospital capacities,” Minister Filipche told a press conference.
He said it is up to the people to observe the measures and lower the transmission risk to the minimum.
“The increased frequency of communication in schools and kindergartens and the colder weather represent an additional risk, as pointed out by the World Health Organization expert. Movement restriction is another measure that might be used,” added Filipche.
Regarding the increased number of cases after the elections in Serbia, he said countries cannot be compared because of different approaches and strategies.
“I believe our approach was good, with early detection and isolation of cases, followed by the gradual relaxation of restrictions. We were ahead of the surrounding countries regarding the enforced measures. Therefore we cannot make comparisons. What is important is for people to observe the measures,” noted Filipche.
