Water use ban in Gostivar still in effect, citizens urged to follow recommendations by authorities

Skopje, 22 July 2026 (MIA) - Analyses of the samples taken by the Public Health Institute (PHI) show that the water in Gostivar is still not fit for use, whereas citizens are urged to strictly follow recommendations by competent authorities, heard Wednesday's session of the Central HQ in the Crisis Management Center (CMC), chaired by Minister of Interior Panche Toshkovski.

The HQ tasked Gostivar municipality to urgently identify locations and contant persons on setting up points for distribution of technical water for buildings of vital importance.

The Army has put two of its water tanks at disposal, which will be engaged if the HQ deems it necessary.

The CMC, in coordination with Gostivar Municipality, Ministry of Health, PHI, Food and Veterinary Agency, and PHI Tetovo-Gostivar, will continue to inform the public on all measures, recommendations and activities related to the water use.

In addition, Kumanovo, Tetovo, Debar, Kichevo, Kavadarci and Negotino will provide technical water at points identified in advance.

The General Affairs Department continues to distribute drinking water to the citizens of Gostivar, as per the Government's decision.

The CMC urges all Gostivar residents to abide by the recommendations of competent institutions and follow the official information published during the day.
