Skopje, 26 May 2026 (MIA) - The importance of European Union's support in strengthening the institutional capacities and enhancement of the security system were in the focus of Tuesday's meeting between Minister of Interior Panche Toshkovski and EU Ambassador Michalis Rokas.

Minister Toshkovski and Ambassador Rokas reaffirmed the excellent cooperation and the continued support that the EU provides to the MoI in the reform process and enhancement of its institutional capacities, the Ministry of Interior said in a press release.

Toshkovski thanked Rokas for EU's support in the country meeting the Union integration criteria, through realization of Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) projects and activities related to the Reform Agenda.

Interlocutors agreed that the partnership between Macedonia and the EU plays a significant role in the strengthening of the security system, modernization of institutions, and improvement of efficiency in managing contemporary security challenges.

They also discussed current activities in the cross-border cooperation programmes and priority areas of common interest, while highlighting the need for further advancement of partnership cooperation, reads the press release.
