Skopje, 16 June 2026 (MIA) — Minister of Interior Panche Toshkovski has strongly condemned the incident of setting a Bulgarian Embassy vehicle on fire Monday in Skopje, warning that violence will not be tolerated.

Speaking to reporters after a signing of an agreement to prevent youth violence, Toshkovski said such incidents were unacceptable and noted that the law enforcement authorities had responded quickly.

"Condemning any violence against anyone in Macedonia is logical. We will not allow any violence and we will not tolerate it," Toshkovski said. 

He said police had investigated the incident promptly, which led to the arrest of a suspect.

"The suspect was very quickly identified and detained," Toshkovski said, adding that the case was being fast-tracked at the prosecutor’s office.

The interior minister reiterated that authorities take a firm stance against such incidents, particularly those involving damage to foreign diplomatic property.

“I, alongside all political leaders in the country, strongly condemn any violence, especially violence aimed at damaging property owned by a neighboring country,” he said.

The minister said he could not share any details about the perpetrator’s potential motive yet, adding that the investigation was ongoing. mr/
