Skopje, 29 June 2026 (MIA) – The policy of subsidising and launching new airlines continues. About dozen airlines were opened in the past two years and as a result, we expect the number of serviced passengers to be recorded at 3.5 million this year, said Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski on Monday.

When asked by reporters whether talks are under way with WizzAir to keep its seasonal lines to Sardinia and Sicily, Mickoski said support for destinations that attract interest will continue.

“For us, it’s important and we plan on turning the country into a regional hub from which citizens from the region can travel to other destinations in Europe or across the world, why not,” he stated.

Amid the world’s largest energy crisis, the prime minister said, from Macedonia, we’ve been supplying several regional airports with kerosine. 

Mickoski said he doesn’t expect gasoline prices to change compared to the previous week. There would be a leveling of about half a denar for unleaded and diesel fuel. “We are still the cheapest country when it comes to gas prices,” noted PM Mickoski.
