Shtip, 9 September 2026 (MIA) - The Government is working on a methodology to retain current electricity prices, but also trying to reduce prices for Macedonian citizens if possible, said Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski in answer to a journalist's question during a visit Wednesday to Shtip.
"Regarding electricity, we are working on a methodology to try, if nothing else, to at least retain the same price, but why not also try to make it cheaper," Mickoski said.
The Prime Minister said households have not experienced electricity price hikes during the current Government's term despite all the challenges, noting that the situation is stable.

"Despite all these challenges, I can tell you that the situation is stable today. We will have a stable winter, we will have electricity supply in line with the needs of citizens and businesses. As a Government, we are focused on that, and we are preparing our production capacities. The heating season will begin in a month and a half, depending on weather conditions, but we are preparing our energy capacities, preparing for winter, and we will continue to work in that direction," Mickoski said.
