Skopje, 10 June 2026 (MIA) – Parliament during its 104th session Wednesday verified the resignation of Deputy Prime Minister for Good Governance, Arben Fetai.
In a Facebook post announcing his resignation on June 1, Fetai said he steps down with his head held high and a clear conscience.
"This is a well-considered decision, taken with the firm belief that it is the most just and dignified step under the current circumstances. During these two years, I have had the honor and privilege to serve the country, contributing to reforms aimed at strengthening accountability, transparency and the rule of law. I thank everyone who believed in me, supported me and collaborated with me on this journey. Am I completely satisfied with what I have achieved? Of course not. There is always room for more and for better. But have I worked with the utmost dedication to lay a solid foundation on which to build further? Without hesitation, yes," said Fetai.
In his resignation, he expresses gratitude for being entrusted with the office of Deputy Prime Minister for Good Governance, adding however that under the current circumstances, the necessary conditions no longer exist for him to perform the task with the required efficiency and for those reasons, he is stepping down from the post.
During today’s session, Parliament also determined the necessity for a number of legislative amendments to be adopted under a fast-track procedure, including laws on confiscated property management, electronic communications, the judiciary, the Judicial Council of North Macedonia, industrial development zones, green industrial zones, energy efficiency, forestry, agricultural land, construction and urban planning.

Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy Cvetan Tripunovski told MPs that the main objective of the draft law amending the Law on Establishing the Agency for Financial Support in Agriculture and Rural Development is to improve and strengthen the legal and institutional framework for managing, controlling and disbursing financial support in agriculture and rural development, with particular emphasis on EU funds (IPARD). He stressed that the proposed solutions provide for greater efficiency in the approval and implementation procedures, reinforced control mechanisms, including on-site inspections, clearer and more effective sanctioning and recovery rules, and a strengthened system for preventing irregularities.
Deputy Minister of Transport Kaltrina Zekolli Shaqiri, in her explanation, stressed that the main objectives of the proposed law amending the Law on Construction are alignment with the provisions of the Rulebook on Urban Planning and the Law on Urban Planning, whereby buildings classified under use category G4.7 – facilities for storing and processing digital data (data centres) and buildings envisaged by urban plans for areas and structures of state importance are designated as first-category buildings.

“Buildings used as electricity storage facilities with all associated electrical equipment, intended solely for the needs and within existing facilities for electricity production from renewable sources (wind, solar and hydropower), a procedure for registration in the Agency for Real Estate Cadastre is envisaged, in order to regulate property-legal status,” she said.
Explaining the proposal, the Deputy Minister of Transport noted that the main purpose of the draft amendments to the Law on Urban Planning, submitted under a fast-track procedure, is to reduce procedural deadlines for facilities used for energy production and storage, digital data storage, and the related infrastructure essential to their operation.
