Skopje, 18 May 2026 (MIA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski reiterated Monday in Parliament there are still no conditions for the constitutional amendments to be implemented. This, according to Mucunski, does not mean the Government should end the dialogue, but instead lead a proactive diplomacy, which is why, he said, he requested to meet with his Bulgarian counterpart at the end of this week.
“We need to discuss a lot of things, including this non-European dispute that is being imposed on our country. And if we are being honest, it was you who allowed it to be imposed on our country,” Mucunski said during a Parliament session dedicated to opposition questions, in answer to a question by DUI MP Arbana Pasholi.
Mucunski said the Government sees the path forward with maximum focus on the Reform Agenda and additional guarantees that the country won’t be conditioned with other bilateral issues in the future.
“Regarding the political expectations, we expect a member state of the European Union to take on the burden of responsibility to implement the European Convention on Human Rights and to respect the rulings of the European Court of Human Rights. As a country, we also expect to receive additional guarantees that the country will no longer be conditioned over bilateral issues,” Mucunski said.
The Foreign Minister said the country is implementing reforms from the Reform Agenda and as a result, receiving funds from the Growth Plan.
“This is not my subjective position, just take a look at what the European Union is delivering from the European funds, which is related to our implementation. If we weren’t implementing reforms, we would not be receiving funds from the Growth Plan. But you are also needed here to press the green button when the Reform Agenda legislation reaches Parliament, not just talk about the European agenda but also support the reform legislation, the Electoral Code and the judicial reforms will be next,” Mucunski said.
Referring to the work of the previous Government, Mucunski said the lack of reforms was visible.
“You represent a political option that has no credibility in the field of Euro-integrations. Even though you made a series of concessions, you did nothing,” Mucunski said, in his response to Pasholli.
