Skopje, 19 May 2025 (MIA) - President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova will not deliver her proposal for a new governor of the National Bank to Parliament on Monday, her Office has said. The President spoke with the candidates on Sunday and will conduct further analyses before she submits the motion to the legislative house.
The President’s Office told MIA such a move is permitted by the law and the prolonged proposal will not impact the work of the institution since the current governor is set to remain in the post until the selection of a new one.
Several candidates are rumored to be in the running for the post, including incumbent governor Anita Angelovska-Bezhoska, former finance minister Zoran Stavreski, and Trajko Slaveski, who is currently the chair of Skopje’s city council.
The Parliament also confirmed Monday it has not yet received a proposal for a new governor.
The seven-year term of the incumbent governor, Anita Angelovska-Bezhoska, who took office on May 22, 2018, ends on May 21.
