Skopje, 9 June 2026 (MIA) – The government is dedicated working hard to meet the goals defined for the purpose of the country’s development and its EU integration process, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Tuesday adding his government also has a plan and a strategy it is working on to lay sound foundations without promising miracles.

“We’re working hard with dedication. Results are slowly showing. We are fulfilling our strategy to meet these goals. I won't go further into details. As a human being I expect us to have good relations with all of our neighbours. As prime minister, I’ll do my best first, to protect the citizens’ interest, protect identity and the state interest. Second, to build good neighbourly relations based on the two-way street principle,” Mickoski said when asked bout his expectations from tomorrow’s meetings of President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova and Foreign Minister Timcho Mucunski with Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova.

He said he doesn’t know what the content of the meetings could be stressing that his government is committed to meeting its plan and strategy.

“We’ve never promised miracles. Those who promise miracles lie, they are not telling the truth to the citizens. What we promise is hard work and it is exactly what we are doing. I’m aware that there are expectations for some things to happen quicker… but we have to set the ground for sound foundations for future generations to not have the headaches we have,” Mickoski responded when asked by reporters after a cornerstone laying ceremony for a school in Skopje’s Gjorce Petrov municipality.
