Novi Sad, 30 May 2026 (MIA) - A ceremony marking “80 years since the settlement of Macedonians in Vojvodina” will be held Saturday afternoon in Novi Sad.

Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, the Prime Minister of Serbia Đuro Macut, the President of the Government of Vojvodina Maja Gojković, and the President of the National Council of the Macedonian National Minority in Serbia Zorica Mitrović are to address the event.

On May 25, Serbian Prime Minister Đuro Macut met in Belgrade with Zorica Mitrović, President of the National Council of the Macedonian National Minority, to discuss improving the position of the members of the Macedonian minority in Serbia. According to the Serbian government, he stated on that occasion that Serbia and North Macedonia are brotherly and friendly countries committed to cooperation, mutual respect and shared prosperity.

“National minorities are the true wealth of this country, something we are proud of,” Macut said, adding that respect for diversity and equality of all citizens is the foundation of a healthy and progressive society.

At the meeting, which was also attended by North Macedonia’s Ambassador to Serbia, Nikola Tupancheski, discussions were held on today’s anniversary event in Novi Sad marking 80 years since the settlement of Macedonians in Vojvodina.
