Skopje, 13 June 2026 (MIA) - Relations with Turkey will continue to develop at a faster pace in the coming period, said Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski after Saturday's meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that reaffirmed the traditionally friendly and strategic bilateral cooperation.

"We expressed satisfaction from the excellent political relations based on mutual respect, trust and sincere friendship between the two nations. We discussed the opportunities for further enhancement of economic cooperation, increase in trade exchange, new investments and enhancement of cooperation in the fields of infrastructure, energy, tourism, education and defense," PM Mickoski wrote in a Facebook post. 

The PM highlighted Turkey's importance as an economic and political partner, noting that the Government remains committed to creating a predictable business environment that is attractive for Turkish investments and opening of new jobs.

"President Erdogan reaffirmed Turkey's support to Macedonia's development and prosperity, as well as readiness for further strengthening of bilateral ties in all fields of mutual interest. We also exchanged opinions on current regional and international challenges, highlighting the need for stability, cooperation and economic development of the region. We voiced assurance that bilteral relations will continue to develop at a faster pace in the coming period," says Mickoski.
