MFAFT: Five Macedonian families seek evacuation from fire-affected areas in Greece

Skopje, 14 August 2026 (MIA) - Five Macedonian families have so far sought evacuation assistance due to the Greek wildfires, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade (MFAFT) said, citing information from the diplomatic-consular office in Thessaloniki. 

"In coordination with Greek authorities, they were guided to designated safe areas to receive assistance alongside other tourists," said the Ministry.

The Foreign Ministry urges Macedonian nationals currently in Greek wildfire zones who require help to reach out via the Ministry's emergency helpline +389 75 268 736, email address globalsos@mfa.gov.mk, as well as the emergency contact numbers of the Consulate of the Republic of North Macedonia in Thessaloniki: +30 694 526 8068 and +389 71 323 001.

"Macedonian nationals currently in the affected areas are also urged to follow official updates and strictly follow the instructions of the local authorities," the Ministry adds.
