Lafchiski to attend NATO Military Committee in Chiefs of Defence session in Brussels

Brussels, 18 May 2026 (MIA) - The Chief of Army General Staff, Major General Sashko Lafchiski, will take part in NATO's Military Committee in Chiefs of Defence session on Tuesday in Brussels. 

The Chair of the Military Committee (CMC), Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, will preside the meeting of NATO’s highest Military Authority, with the participation of the 32 Allies, along with the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), General Alexus G. Grynkewich, and Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT), Admiral Pierre Vandier.

According to an official press release, the meeting features a series of sessions that will tackle key issues for the Alliance, including plans to further strengthen deterrence and defence, the status of ongoing NATO-led missions, activities and operations, as well as political objectives, priorities and milestones on the way towards the NATO Summit in Ankara. 

Also on the agenda are topics related to the development of the Defence Planning Process to better integrate emerging technologies and innovation in defence, support to Ukraine, as well as NATO-EU cooperation. 

Major General Lafchiski's participation in the meeting reaffirms the active contribution of the Army and the Republic of North Macedonia to collective security, regional stability and the implementation of the Alliance's common policies and activities.
