Gjorgjievski vows to resolve Skopje’s waste problem within 72 hours of becoming mayor

Skopje, 10 October 2025 (MIA) - VMRO-DPMNE's candidate for Skopje Mayor, Orce Gjorgjievski, vowed Friday that he would resolve the issue with waste in Skopje within 72 hours of becoming mayor.

Gjorgjievski said the efforts to clean the city would be aided by city services, socially responsible companies, and citizens.

“When we have a deaf city administration, when we have a dysfunctional city administration, we face the need to do as much as we can in all municipalities with our own resources so we can provide better conditions for our citizens,” Gjorgjievski said.

He pointed out that recently in the Municipality of Kisela Voda, where he is still the acting mayor, waste containers have been removed from their locations, leaving only one in place with the intention of causing him harm.

“In the past period, waste containers have been deliberately and intentionally removed from micro-locations to create illegal dumps around them. In places where there used to be three or four containers, now only one remains, with someone thinking this will harm me. I believe that the person leading the city for the next ten days is underestimating her own people, but the citizens of Skopje know well who cares for them and works for them, and who has been using such ridiculous intrigues over the past four years,” Gjorgjievski said.

The VMRO-DPMNE candidate for Mayor of Kisela Voda, Beti Stamenkoska-Trajkoska, also promised that the problem would be resolved shortly after the local elections.
