Gallimard releases Rumena Buzharovska's debut novel

Skopje, 3 September 2026 (MIA) -- Renowned French publisher Gallimard has released Rumena Buzharovska's "Tony," her debut novel, translated from the Macedonian by Chloé Billon.

According to Buzharovska's Macedonian publisher, France Culture radio praised Buzharovska as an author who "breaks all taboos with relentless humor."

Originally published in 2024 by Tri Publishing, Buzharovska's debut novel has also been released in Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as Spain. An Albanian edition is scheduled for October, followed by releases in Portugal, the United States and Greece next year.

The novel has already gone through four print runs in Macedonian, the publisher said.

Following her short story collections "My Husband" (2022) and "I'm Not Going Anywhere" (2025), "Tony" is Buzharovska's third book published by Gallimard. The publishing house was founded in Paris in 1911 and is globally recognized for championing quality European literature. mr/
