Skopje, 12 June 2026 (MIA) - The successful meetings with Turkish Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat and Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu have resulted in agreements on launching a direct Ankara-Skopje flight and cargo rail link between the two countries, says Deputy PM and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski.

The meetings were held on the sidelines of the Macedonian-Turkish business forum in Istanbul on Friday.

Minister Bolat also referred to the Ankara-Skopje flight and the cargo rail link in a post on X, saying the countries continue to work on achieving the goal of US$ 2 billion trade exchange.

"At the meeting, we agreed on further strengthening of bilateral cooperation in the fields of transport, logistics, civil aviation and railway traffic. We believe that AJet flights en route Ankara-Skopje and railway cooperation between Turkish State Railways and Macedonian Railways-Infrastructure will significantly contribute to trade, investments and connectivity between our countries," wrote Bolat.

In line with the vision of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for strong regional cooperation and economic integration, he adds, we continue to work on achieving the goal of US$ 2 billion bilateral trade exchange.

"In the coming period, we will continue to strengthen transport corridors and support operations of Turkish companies in North Macedonia, contributing to the connectivity, prosperity and joint development of the Balkans. Deep friendly and brotherly ties between our countries will become even stronger through the new projects in the fields of trade and investments," says Bolat.
