London, 8 October 2025 (dpa/MIA) - Australian Open organizers have announced Carlos Alcaraz will headline the Million Dollar 1 Point Slam ahead of January’s tournament.
The format debuted this year, with professionals taking on amateurs in a tournament where all the contests are only one point, but the prize was much lower at 60,000 Australian dollars ($39,550).
Little-known Australian professional Omar Jasika walked away the victor, and organizers will hope next year’s event is much more high profile in a similar fashion to the US Open’s reimagined mixed doubles tournament, which attracted a star-studded field.
The Million Dollar 1 Point Slam will take place on Rod Laver Arena on Wednesday, January 14, four days before the start of the main tournament, and the winner will take home approximately £490,000 (657,580)
Meanwhile, organizers have also announced the men’s and women’s doubles finals will move to a Saturday afternoon slot on the final weekend. This year, Britain’s Henry Patten and his Finnish partner Harri Heliovaara lifted their second grand slam title at close to 2 am in front of a sparse crowd.
