Bozhinovska says 45 concessions terminated, tightening criteria and controls

Skopje, 9 October 2025 (MIA) - Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources Sanja Bozhinovska said Thursday that 45 concessions have been terminated, of which 34 by unilateral termination, whereas 11 concession contracts have expired and have not been extended.

Speaking at Thursday's press briefing, Bozhinovska said reasons include non-compliance with legal provisions and environmental measures, non-payment of concession fees, transfer of concessions without consent and exploitation.

According to the Minister, all concessions will be publicly announced.

"This year, 170 extraordinary and 78 regular inspections were conducted from January to October 1," Bozhinovska pointed out, announcing much stricter rules in terms of issuing and controlling concessions.
