Skopje, 30 May 2026 (MIA) - The Ministry of Health continues work on implementation of strategic capital projects which, according to the Ministry, will transform the country’s healthcare infrastructure.

These activities were presented in detail at the 10th meeting of the Sector Working Group on Health.

“Our vision is very clear: accessible and quality healthcare for all citizens, a digitally connected system, and strong primary healthcare. Investment in infrastructure is not just about building walls, but about investing in people, the system, and the future of our country. Together we are building modern and humane healthcare,” Health Minister Azir Aliu said.

Priority capital investments include new clinical hospital in Shtip, general hospital in Kichevo and clinical hospital in Tetovo, as well as a Center for Wounds and Gangrene at the “13 November” University Hospital for Geriatric and Palliative Medicine in Skopje, with a new Clinical Center to follow in a later phase. Work is also advancing on social and humanitarian projects such as improving conditions for forensic patients at the Skopje Psychiatric Hospital and establishing an Innovation Hub in Kochani.

In parallel with the capital projects, strategic healthcare initiatives are also being implemented, including an Emergency Toxicology Center, the development of in vitro capacities in gynecology, and enhanced intensive care in cardiology.

“Modern infrastructure also means digitalization. National digital platforms, laboratory networks, systemic digital solutions and integrated services are the projects that will make our healthcare system closer to every citizen, regardless of where they live in the country,” Aliu said.
